I exploited “date night” last night by taking Terri to see the local release of The Flying Scotsman. The movie is about the life of Graeme Obree, who broke the world hour record for cycling in 1994. The story focuses on his struggles against clinical depression, as well as those in the cycling establishment that did not want him to succeed.

I really enjoyed the film, there being enough cycling-specific action to be really inspirational, and enough drama to tell the story. Jonny Lee Miller was great as Obree, and Brian Cox turns in a superb performance as friend and mentor Douglas Baxter.
