Workout 4/15/2009
Last night was my workout with Luka at Hocevar Performance. Usual warm-up of lunges, high-knee running, etc.
4 sets of:
- 15 x 24 kg kettlebell swings
- Planks, one hand on medicine ball, do a pushup, and roll the ball to the other person, pushup, rinse, repeat.
- Negative pull-ups on the hanging rings.
4 sets of:
- 1 leg glute-raises
- bent-over fly’s
- plank w/weight on back
Finisher:
- 10 reps of 5 – 10 – 5 sprints. Run 5 yards, run backwards 5 yards, run 10 yards, backwards 10 yards, 5 yards again.
I’m no runner. Last time I enjoyed running I think I was in 3rd grade. And I was NEVER fast. I was last in my 4th grade class when we had to do the “President’s Fitness Test” 50-yard dash. I could do endurance, but speed has never been my game. I read an article yesterday that basically said that if you hate doing a particular exercise and/or suck at it, you probably need it. Fine, I’ll do your wind-sprint thingees, but I refuse to like it.
Our consensus last night that all the above are “deceptively hard”. Like that plank-pushup-roll the ball thing where you stabilize your core and don’t move your hips. By the time we got to the planks in the next group of exercises, my body was shaking like a leaf after 10 seconds or so.

Guilty as charged. Much going on, zero blog time.
