Century Ride of the Centuries

Yes, I know it looks like I applied auto wax to my mailbox.  It’s new, but maybe that’s not such a bad idea.  I would be the only guy in my neighborhood with symmetrical water beads on his carnauba-waxed mailbox!

I had a friend once that was so compulsive about stuff like this, he would wax the inside of his engine compartment and dress the hoses with armor-all before taking his car in for service.  He liked it when the mechanics would tell him how nice it looked.  He also chromed the handlebars of his lawnmower.  Go figure.

It’s kind of funny I’d think of him while writing this post, as he lived for a while in Pendleton, Oregon, home to the Century Ride of the Centuries.  Maybe it is some kind of Six Degrees of CROC thing…  more likely it is that I’ve just had too much caffeine today.
