The snow is gone, but its presence still lingers
I’m waiting on a tire for my indoor trainer, which was supposed to be here last week, except the snow made my street impassable. The snow is gone, but UPS seems to be a little backed up because of the one-two punch of snow and Christmas.

I have my winter bike set up on a trainer in my man-cave, next to my weight training area. I had an extra wheel (a stock Bontrager) that I’m setting up as my dedicated “spin” wheel. I found a cassette online, and as you have seen above, I’m ordering a special tire. This way I can just swap out the whole wheel if I want to ride outside.
Mrs. Claus gave me a Bose Docking Station for my iPod, so I can listen to music without having to fuss with earbuds, which just don’t work with weight training. I even hauled my son’s old PC in there, so I could watch cycling DVD’s while I’m working out.
When I do decide to swap out wheels and go for a ride outside, I’m going to be prepared to deal with a higher than normal amount of flat tires. The last time that cars had to put tire chains on for more than a day or so, I noticed a lot of flats caused by little pieces of metal debris… presumably from the chains. While I’m not doing a lot of road riding at the moment, I’m running my tires with Mr. Tuffy liners and carrying extra tubes, just in case.
