Lance Armstrong to come out of retirement?

Velonews reports that 37 year old Lance Armstrong is coming back to once again contest the Tour de France, this time with Team Astana.

Please note that this entry is NOT filed under humor.  I’m not sure this is such a great idea.  Let the new kids race, and just enjoy your time chasing the Olson Twins.

  1. All of the greats try it - Ali, Jordan etc and usually with no the best results. There is a blog post http://bicyclespokesman.com/lance-armstrong-will-come-out-of-retirement/ that gives some background on what might be motivating Lance to return

  2. Yeah, I don’t know how to feel about this. I will watch him give it a go, but I don’t anticipate he’ll fare well. Methinks he’s begun to believe his own hype. Or, perhaps, he was inspired by Dara Tores?

All the youngsters in this year’s tour were so fresh-faced and awesome (Schleck Brothers’ sandwich, ladies?) that I just wished the likes of Cadel Evans would get out of the way. I guess in the end he did…

Kudos to him, though. I can’t do it, and if I could, I wouldn’t shut up either.
