Local Cycling Publicity

There was a nice little article in Sunday’s Seattle Times: SE King County Insert on cycling in our part of the county. Specifically, the article centered on a local cycling group called Cycle Therapy/4-Corners Racing. Here’s your obligatory link to the online version, as long as they keep it posted, that is.

The article made little to no mention of the lead sponsor of this team, that being our local bike shop Cycle Therapy. So, in an effort to right this oversight, I hereby inform you that the title sponsor of the 4-Corners Racing Team is none other than:

Cycle Therapy
703 Central Ave South
Kent, Washington 98032

253-854-7487

No, they don’t have a website (yet). If they offer me a big enough bribe, I’ll build them one.

Back to the article, it’s nice to see folks banding together to promote the sport in an inclusive manner. Much like the group I’m riding with these days. We don’t have a sponsor. The logical choice to sponsor us is apparently already taken. If we decide to go the sponsorship route in the future, it would likely be “Team Zao Noodle Bar”, or “Panera Racing”, or most likely the “Mashed Potatoes from The Ram Team”.

I don’t foresee our phone ringing anytime soon. Mostly because we don’t have one.

  1. For those of you not familiar with Cycle Therapy, I’ll offer my own opinion that they are a good shop that takes care of the “regulars”.

I’m looking at buying a new bike right now, and one of the owner’s has let me know that even if he is not working, that if I call he’ll be down at the shop in about 15 minutes to review the options.

Granted I spend a lot of time and money there, but it is really nice in these times to feel like a business actually values “my” business.

If any of you stop in, ask for Rick or Bob and tell them you saw their name on John Calnan’s blog. My guess is that you’ll get a little more attention than you do at REI.
