3 is the number, and the number shall be 68

or thereabouts.

Attempts to ride my little bicycle today were absolutely thwarted. A 2 hour dentist visit turned into a 4 hour white-knuckle joy ride to replace a crown (that refused to come off because my previous dentist sneezed when he super-glued the damn thing into my head), fix a cavity, and repair an adjacent cracked tooth. Probably all wear-and-tear from grinding my teeth as I tried to blog every day for a month in November. Bookend my dental adventure with “priority-1 client troubleshooting”, and the day was pretty well shot. True, I could have ridden this evening, and the winds tip toward “gale” and the rain edges toward “pissin’”. No thanks, not after my day, thank you very much.

So that leaves me 3 days. Here’s what remains of “the goals”

  • December 200 miles: 132.44 done, 67.56 to go
  • 5,000 miles in 2007: 4,936.90 done, 63.15 to go

I’m less attached to the December number. Hell, I’ve missed monthly numbers before.

I’d hate to miss the 5,000 number however. I would really, really hate it. And with only about 4 miles difference between the two, I might as well go for both, right?

So I’m going out in the cold and rain Saturday morning, and booking as many as I can before the misery index overcomes my willpower. My guess is that will happen around mile 50, but who knows. With a Sunday HIT session looming, that leaves Monday for completion.

Nothing like going down to the wire, John. Sheesh.
