Wet

It’s pouring at the moment. Terri and I are scheduled to lead a Newcomer’s ride tomorrow in the Kent Valley, but I’m not real optimistic at this point. We bill these as “rain cancels”, so that if it is really nasty or we have a largely inexperienced crowd, we can opt out and not take 20 newbies across 5 railroad crossings. We will have to make a judgment call at the last minute, depending on how it looks at 10 a.m.

Terri’s knee is a bit tender, having tweaked it wearing “girl shoes” at work. We did a 5 mile test ride last night, and the results weren’t exactly inspiring. She will also be a ride-time decision. She’s committed to riding, I’m committed to not having her unnecessarily uncomfortable for the entire weekend. I can lead the group, and at least one other Cascade ride leader is coming to help out so coverage is not an issue.

There’s a bit of an active debate amongst the Green River Riders about a tour for summer ’08. There’s quite a bit of momentum for a multi-day ride through the Canadian Rockies. Logistics need to be worked out, as well as scheduling. From what we read today, it seems critical to be there at the peak of summer so that a.) it’s not snowing, and b.) the bears are still eating berries, and not looking for meat riding bicycles.
