Use It or Lose It… Kinda Lost It
Well, we certainly weren’t the “poetry in motion” we were toward the end of last winter. 5 months of riding night after night with the same guys, things move pretty smoothly. From a ride leader’s point of view, anyway.
Tonight we had 9 riders plus 2 ride leaders start the ride. We lost 1 ride leader at mile 10 or so, lost the second ride leader when he tried to find the first ride leader, then the group blew through the regroup point like they were about to miss happy hour and Andy’s Tavern.
By taking a creative shortcut ride leader #2 was able to intercept the peloton. He established a telecommunications link with ride leader #1, who had flatted. He was fine, so ride leader #2 (that would be moi) brought the group home.
We need to work on our coordination a bit.

While you were taking the short cut, Dale, Marshall and I were calling ride leader 1. While talking to him to ascertain his situation, the rest of the group left us. So, at one point there were actually 4 different groups.
