I never went to summer camp before…
But that really is how I feel this morning, just a couple of hours from heading to the start location for the Ride Around Washington (It’s not like I was deprived or anything, as I spent all my summers goofing off on the beaches of Southern California).
I have spent the last two days fussing over my packing list, and last night the final packing was completed. I ran a few last minute errands yesterday afternoon, picking up a new set of cleats for my shoes, a couple of extra inner tubes, and an extra memory card for the camera. I am going to attempt to take more pictures on this trip… I tend to get a little too consumed with the pedaling itself and I get lazy about pulling out the camera.
I don’t think there will be a lot of internet kiosks along the rural highways and backroads that I’ll be traveling, so don’t expect to hear from me for a bit. If I come across an open library I’ll post brief updates, but the major illustrated recap stuff will have to wait a week or so.
Be good to each other, and if you are riding along and see a fork in the road, pick it up so that the next cyclist doesn’t puncture their tire on it.

I am very much looking forward to your post-ride photos and prose. Enjoy the oysters and onions!
