Picture-perfect day
It was hard to think of it as a mid-February day. There was hardly a cloud in the sky, and the temperature was well above 50. The weather pattern may have shifted back toward the wet and windy by 5 p.m., but for about 10 hours there we had what I call a “payoff day”. Every so often in the midst of our damp and dark winters, we get a day totally incongruous with it’s season. Yesterday was such a day.
We had a moderate-sized group show up for our exploration of bicycling facilities in Kent. Sadly, no one from the City decided to honor the day or the organizers by attending the ride.
It would have been hard to complete this 11 mile ride and then head indoors, so we didn’t. While some of the other ride leaders headed off to have lunch and debrief, Terri and I opted to ride a complete loop of the Green River and Interurban Trails for another 20 miles.
We saw plenty of riders out enjoying the afternoon. We had a slight headwind on the way back south, but we were more than adequately compensated by the clear skies and the sun in our faces as we worked our way back to the car, and a late lunch.
There was also that giant flying condom sighting in Tukwila.
31.41 miles, 445.25 year-to-date.

At the end of one solid week of rain, we also had a payoff day yesterday. I went for a ride with the husband in our lovely 61° weather!
