Goals

Over on the 43 things website, Claire laid down a challenge to herself to ride her bicycle at least 300 miles in February. Your humble author, being the total sucker for a challenge, immediately signed up to complete the same goal. I figured that since I was able to ride 200 in January even with all the crappy weather, 300 would be a piece of cake.

Actually, if the weather stays halfway decent, it should not be a problem. The month has 8 Tuesdays/Thursdays, translating to 8 Use It or Lose It rides of approximately 20 miles each. That’s 160, just slightly better than half the required total. I booked 27 miles last weekend, and I will have 33 on Sunday the 25th for Chilly Hilly. I’m also co-leading a couple of 12 mile rides the weekend of February 17/18, called “Explore Kent”. I’ll pre-ride that route tomorrow. That leaves a balance of about 44 miles, to be accomplished either on Sunday the 11th or after the short rides next weekend. A bit convoluted, but do-able. I’m amazed that, even after committing myself to having fewer ride commitments in ’07, here I go again!

All hail exercise and a reasonably balanced diet.  My lab results are back from my recent medical exam, and I my cholesterol readings are probably better than our kids’ at this point.
