Back on the road!

Thursday I spent my lunch hour “scouting” one of the usual routes that we take on the Use It or Lose It rides. The road was clear of snow. The shoulders had old snow in shady places, and hills had a ton of sand to the right of the white line. I glanced at, but did not walk down, the Interurban Trail in a couple of places. The trail appeared to still have a fair amount of snow, particularly where the sun had not shone. Bike tracks indicated that some folks were riding the trail with success, but I wasn’t about to take a group for a ride through the slush. A road ride it would be.

We ended up with 6 riders at the start, a great turnout when you consider that it was below 40 degrees. I was worried that drivers might be a little short-tempered, but the cars gave us room for the most part, and we actually got a couple of happy-honks, complete with open-window waves using all fingers. Thanks, we’re glad to be back, too.

22.9 miles for the night, 90 miles ytd.
