A brief RAMROD account

My friend and fellow cyclist Bruce pulled off a huge day by tackling RAMROD today just a week and a half past his one-day STP. Wow!

His email to me as follows:

John, thanks
Here are the stats. 151.7miles. I’m told it is 10,000ft elevation gain. It took me 11 hours 45 minutes, (9 hours, 38 minutes in the saddle)
It was one hell of a ride. The last pass (Cayuse) just about did me in. It was the toughest 12 miles I have ever done. It took me 2 hours to cover that distance. Once I make the over the last pass it was 50 miles down hill for the most part to Enumclaw.
John (another friend from the gym) caught up to me in the morning (no surprise there) and we road until Longmire then I had to back off the pace. He is a machine. I saw him one more time but could not keep up with him.
It was a beautiful day for a ride and SO glad to be home. I’m taking tomorrow off to hang and “bask in my triumph”.
It was a good day.

Bravo, Bruce! This is a goal of mine, but I know I’m at least a year away.
