Newcomers Ride – Update

Yesterday we had the first Newcomers group ride, at least the first where people actually showed up! We ended up with a group of 26 riders for this leisurely ride from the Tukwila Community Center to Kent via the Interurban Trail, latte break at Kent Station, then the return trip via the Green River Trail.

The next ride will be Sunday, February 26th on Green Valley Road from Auburn to Flaming Geyser State Park, an out-and-back of approximately 20 miles.

It was a nice group of riders yesterday, and the fact that we had several ride leaders meant we had plenty of coverage for intersection control, and leaders for folks that wanted to head back a little earlier.

One of the ride leaders, Courtney, told me about “The Big Ride” for the Washington Lung Association, from Seattle to San Francisco via the coast. This ride sounds totally tempting for this cyclist, but I have no idea how I’d justify it to home and work. Creative Brainstorming ahead!

The entry fee for the ride is to get pledges for the Lung Association. Please help Courtney by pledging.
